Those cold, grey London days when you look up trying to see anything beyond the ceiling. It's so blank your eye can't comprehend the sky is anything more than two dimensional. On those days, seeing the latticework of tree branches creates some beauty, like découpage.

On noticing

I drew this piece while lying beneath a tree, watching the branches move gently against the sky. Working with ink and charcoal, I kept the marks simple and direct, letting the negative space speak as much as the lines. It was created from sketches made during a walk in the countryside. This work is about looking up, and allowing a small moment to be enough.
