This painting was inspired by a moment just before sunset, when the fields seemed to glow from within. I worked with oil and soft blending to stretch the light across the landscape, letting the horse emerge gently rather than dominate. It was painted after a walk in the countryside outside London, where I stayed until the light disappeared. This piece is about the calm that arrives at the end of the day.
